“Staring my year at SRD, my roommate Madeline once told me to get up at 6:30 am to go to a weight training class and I laughed. “I am so grateful that I found Goddess Fit through an online Google search. I was looking specifically for women trainers who worked on strength resistance and weight bearing exercises and who were experienced on working specifically with middle age woman. Yikes, am I middle aged?! I also have Celiac Disease and because of this have a higher risk for osteoporosis (thus the weight bearing exercises). Also, being middle age, it’s not as easy for me to lose weight, especially in that lovely middle area. Why does it just settle there?! So, I did my Google search and saw that Goddess Fit was having a 16-week transformation special. I went in and met with the awesome Veronica and decided it would be most beneficial to meet three times a week. I am someone who hates working out, hates group classes and the gym and my only activity previously was walking, so I knew if I didn’t invest in the three classes, it wouldn’t stick. I’ll admit, personal training can get expensive but I see it as an investment in myself and my future health. I’d rather spend the money now on getting healthy then spend it later on doctor and hospital bills! The first time I met with Veronica, I immediately felt at ease. I told her my goal was to be strong and healthy. Before I even started working out, Veronica did a throughout assessment to see where I was at and what my goals I should strive to reach. She also discussed nutrition with me and what to eat before and after a workout as well as how often to eat. I love that she varies the workout routine with different circuits. You will not be bored and always challenged! My favorite workout sessions are weight lifting (who knew?!) and boxing/kick boxing. I love it! I also appreciated how Veronica helped me work on my form. It’s amazing how a simple cue and adjustment on how I am standing or squatting can make a difference in my workout. I can feel those muscles activating. Also, thanks to Veronica, I began doing cardio on the days that I wasn’t training. I do an intermittent run to work on speed and a longer run to work on endurance. Amazing for someone that hated working out! At the end of the 16 weeks, Veronica retested me and I am so happy and proud of my results. I lost 10.58lbs of fat and gained 12lbs of muscle mass! I also lost inches, improved my cardio fitness assessment, increased my upper and lower body/core strength/endurance as well as my range of motion! Now that I am done with my 16 weeks’ transformation, I am slowly transitioning into participating in group classes at my gym. Group classes have always intimidated me, but with the help of Goddess Fit, I have the confidence and the strength to do it! “Veronica is such a great instructor for Pilates. She truly understands the practice and how your body should feel while doing it. Pilates was a very foreign exercise to me before I started and a lot of it seemed really strange at first. Veronica does such a great job of explaining the reasoning behind each controlled move and how we are relearning muscle movement patterns. Pilates is the first exercise that really made me feel connected to my lower core muscles (powerhouse). I can truly feel the results of the practice and I am getting stronger with every session. “I have been taking yoga classes in Austin since 1992. I have taken classes all over town and by some of the best teachers in Austin. I started taking Veronica’s hot yoga class about 6 years ago. She is a great teacher. Her classes are fun and challenging. She gives excellent guidance and direction and always provides options for beginners. It’s obvious that she’s a yoga scholar and is always continuing to expand her yoga knowledge. “I had such a great time on Veronica’s Yoga and Fitness Adventure in Belize. The setting was gorgeous and all of the activities were fun for everyone. Veronica did a great job of putting just enough exercise in to vacation to rejuvenate you without taking away from the fun or relaxation. Afternoon Yoga Nidra was such a nice way to cap off a day of fun and relax into the evening. We had a mixed group of different fitness backgrounds and Veronica met everyone where they were. This vacation would be great for anyone wanting to get away and do some self-care at the same time. Our group was a nice mix of married couples, friends on vacation, and single travelers and I think everyone felt included and part of the group. Can’t wait for Veronica’s next adventure!” – Jamie M.
